Kampala – Uganda Airlines has announced the launch of three new routes, connecting Abuja, Lusaka, and Harare to its growing network. The airline will begin services to Abuja on September 12, followed by Lusaka and Harare on September 25.

“This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone in our journey to connect Africa and position ourselves as a key player in the aviation industry,” said Jennifer Bamuturaki CEO Uganda Airlines during the launch on Wednesday morning. “We are committed to bridging geographical gaps and connecting the East to the West, North, and South of Africa.” She added

This expansion marks a significant milestone for the airline, which celebrates its fifth anniversary in August 2024. The new routes bring the total number of destinations served by Uganda Airlines to 16, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Dar es Salam, Bujumbura, Johannesburg, Dubai, Zanzibar and Lagos. The other are Kinshasa, Mumbai, Mogadishu, Juba, Kilimanjaro, Abuja, Lusaka and Harare

“As we launch these new routes, we reaffirm our commitment to our customers to provide safe, reliable, and comfortable travel experiences,” the CEO added.

Uganda Airlines has experienced significant growth in recent years, with a 20% increase in traffic at Entebbe Airport and enhanced revenue growth. The airline operates 19 flights daily and has accelerated its cargo operations.

Bamuturaki expressed confidence in the airline’s vision to connect Africa, with a focus on underserved routes guided by feasibility studies. She noted that the launch of these new routes marks the successful conclusion of the airline’s 3-year strategic plan, paving the way for the next phase of its 10-year rolling plan.

With this expansion, Uganda Airlines reaffirms its commitment to connecting Africa and positioning itself for long-term profitability.
