Wakiso- Six pupils of Trust Infant Primary School in Nakaseke were seriously injured on Friday morning, when their bus crashed at Nkumba Traffic Light along Entebbe Road. The incident occurred at around 10:30am while the pupils were on a tour to Entebbe Zoo.
According to Traffic Police spokesperson, Michael Kananura, the Isuzu Bus (UBA 839S) failed to brake while approaching the Nkumba traffic lights from the Kampala side, colliding with a Toyota Double Cabin (UG 2402C) from behind. The impact caused the bus to overturn, resulting in the injuries.
Kananura says the injured pupils were rushed to Sub Medical Centre Nkumba for medical attention and that the driver of the Isuzu Bus is currently at large, with a police hunt underway.
Both vehicles have been towed to Nkumba Police Station for further investigation.
‘We urge all motorists to ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition before embarking on journeys to prevent such accidents,” Kananura said.
