Kampala -As the Buganda Land Board (BLB) celebrates its 30th anniversary, occupants of Kabaka land are being urged to obtain proper documentation for their properties. The call comes amidst concerns over land disputes and irregularities in the region.

The Buganda Land Board, established in 1993, manages the vast land holdings of the Kabaka of Buganda, a traditional kingdom in Uganda. Over the years, the board has worked to streamline land ownership and usage, but challenges persist.

According to Simon Kabogoza, the CEO of the Board, many occupants lack proper titles, leases, or permits, leading to conflicts and hindering development.

“We want to ensure that all occupants have the necessary papers to secure their properties and avoid disputes,” said Kabogoza.

He added that, the board is offering assistance to occupants right from local level to regularize their status, including providing affordable rates for surveying and titling. This move aims to promote transparency, security, and investment in the region.

Ssebwana Charles Kiberu Kisilizza, Kabaka’s Representative for Makindye affirmed that they have journeyed well with Buganda Land Board and lauded it for having Community touch.

He went ahead to ask Buganda people to as well cooperate with the central government such that they can benefit in it’s development programs.

Representing the LCV Chairperson for Wakiso District, former MP Ssajjalyabene asked occupants of Kabaka’s land to trust and use BLB because it is legally instituted.

Katongole Kobusinge the RDC for Makindye Ssabagabo who represented the RDC for Wakiso pledged continuous collaboration with Buganda Government citing that her office has been able to manage land issues well and there are only a few to sort.

The Celebrations that took place in Busiro County were coupled with free medical camp, football and other games as way of saving lives of Kabaka’s people and consolidating solidarity.

As the Buganda Land Board marks three decades of service, it reaffirms its commitment to efficient land management and the well-being of Kabaka land occupants. By obtaining proper documentation, occupants can safeguard their rights and contribute to the region’s prosperity.
