Kampala – Government has announced that its e-visa system is currently facing technical difficulties due to a system upgrade, affecting online visa services.
To minimize travel disruptions, airlines have been instructed to allow visa-prone travelers heading to Uganda to board without prior e-visa approval.
“Upon arrival, the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control will facilitate the issuance of visas at various points of entry,” said Simon Mundeyi the Ministry of Internal Affairs Spokesperson on Monday
These points of entry include Entebbe Airport, Malaba Border, Busia, Lwakhakha, Katuna, and other designated areas.
According to Mundeyi, travelers are still required to meet standard visa requirements and provide necessary documentation upon arrival. This includes providing the address of their destination and reason for visiting Uganda.
“Please note that the visa exemptions are temporary and will remain in effect until our visa system is restored,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mundeyi said major sections of the system are operational, with ongoing improvements to ensure a robust system upon full restoration.
