Kampala – Coca-Cola Uganda has announced the return of its popular ‘Share a Coke’ campaign, with a fresh twist that speaks directly to Gen Z’s desire for real, authenti connection.
As part of the campaign’s relaunch, students from Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Uganda and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Kenya came together virtually for a vibrant “Cross-Border Toast”. The event celebrated friendship, unity, and unforgettable Coke moments, showcasing the power of shared experiences in bringing people together.

According to Arthur Akankwasa, Coca-Cola Franchise Manager, Uganda, the ‘Share a Coke’ campaign has always been about creating genuine human connections. “By connecting students across borders, we’re not just sharing a refreshing beverage – we’re sharing culture, friendship, and the spirit that unites East Africa. In today’s world, where digital interactions can feel fleeting, this campaign offers a tangible way for young people to connect authentically,” he said.
The campaign features personalized Coca-Cola cans and bottles emblazoned with popular names from Uganda and Kenya, reflecting the region’s diversity and warmth. This personalized touch allows consumers to find and share a Coke with friends and family, creating a sense of connection and community.

To further enhance the campaign, Coca-Cola has introduced the “Share a Coke Memory Maker”, a dynamic digital hub where students and fans can generate personalized video content, share messages with friends, and create custom name labels. This innovative platform can be accessed by scanning QR codes on packaging, making it easily accessible to the target audience.
Coca-Cola’s commitment to fostering connections and community was recently on display at MUBS’ annual Cultural Gala, held at its main campus in Nakawa on April 4, 2025. The event, themed “Rooted in Tradition and Growing Towards Sustainability,” showcased cultural pride through traditional music, dance, attire, drama, and more.

As the event’s sponsor, Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda added excitement through free drinks, interactive experience zones, and live performances by national music stars Vinka and Fik Fameica, who electrified the audience with their energetic sets. This event highlighted the brand’s efforts to engage with the community and create memorable experiences.
Vivienne Olenyo, Frontline Marketing Manager – Coca-Cola East & Central Africa, highlighted the importance of connecting with the youth in meaningful ways. “At Coca-Cola, we are always looking for fresh ways to connect with the youth and remain part of their everyday moments,” she said.

“The return of ‘Share a Coke’ is a celebration of friendship, self-expression, and community – values we know Gen Z holds dear. Whether online or offline, we’re inviting them to create and share magical memories that are deeply personal and joyfully shared,” Olenyo added.
Over the next three months, Coca-Cola will bring the campaign to life across Uganda through engaging experiences at universities, malls, eateries, and social hubs. Consumers are encouraged to share their #ShareaCokeUG moments on TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), turning ordinary connections into extraordinary memories.
The campaign is expected to reach more than 120 countries worldwide, as Coca-Cola continues to bridge the digital and physical worlds – making every Coke moment more personal, more fun, and more magical.
