Global blockchain company Binance has committed $125,000 in humanitarian funding to support frontline Ebola response efforts in Uganda through the Uganda Red Cross Society.

The funding will support emergency interventions in affected and high-risk communities, including community awareness and prevention campaigns, contact tracing and surveillance support, risk communication activities, and the provision of essential supplies and protective equipment for frontline responders.

In a statement released on Thursday, Binance said the support comes at a critical time as Uganda continues efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak and protect vulnerable communities.

The company noted that the outbreak has placed significant pressure on health systems and communities, prompting coordinated action from government authorities, humanitarian organisations, and public health partners.

Richard Teng, Chief Executive Officer of Binance, said communities across Africa continue to demonstrate resilience in the face of public health challenges, adding that frontline responders require support during emergencies.

“The Uganda Red Cross Society is playing a vital role in supporting communities, raising awareness, and strengthening outbreak response efforts. We are proud to support their work as they help protect vulnerable populations and deliver critical assistance where it is needed most,” Teng said.

Uganda Red Cross Society Secretary General Robert Kwesiga welcomed the support, saying it will help the organisation strengthen frontline services and reach more at-risk communities.

“Strong partnerships are essential during public health emergencies. The support from Binance comes at a critical time and will help us respond more rapidly, reach more at-risk communities, and reinforce the frontline services needed to help contain the outbreak and save lives,” Kwesiga said.

According to Binance, part of the funding will focus on rapid response efforts in underserved and high-risk communities where access to public health information, protective resources, and emergency support services remains limited.

The initiative forms part of Binance’s broader programmes across Africa focusing on education, financial inclusion, digital skills development, and community empowerment.

Binance also encouraged companies operating across Africa to support communities during humanitarian emergencies and contribute to public wellbeing beyond economic participation.
