Wakiso – Two construction workers lost their lives in a tragic incident on Thursday evening, when an entrance gate collapsed at a residence in Katale Cell, Bunamwaya Parish, Kyengera Town Council.
The victims, Mugerwa Joseph (22) and Semakula David (22), were pronounced dead at the scene after the gate’s support pillars failed, causing a heavy slab to fall on them, despite immediate rescue efforts by community members.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, the incident occurred at around 8 PM at the residence of Julius Mubiru.
Owoyesigyire says Police and Fire Prevention and Rescue services promptly arrived to assess the situation and transport the bodies to the City Mortuary at Mulago for postmortem examination.
“Our team, with the assistance of experts, is conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to this tragic event,” added Owoyesigyire.
